Ethical and Social Implications of Science and Technology

Science and Technology continue to advance at a fast pace and we often do not have sufficient time to consider the ethical implications of new discoveries.  This issue is not new:  In the early 20th century the Nobel Prize for Peace was established by Albert Nobel, the inventor of dynamite.  He realized the incredible destructive potential of his invention and wanted to diminish the possibility of war by rewarding individuals who advocate for peace.   More recently, the use of a new gene editing technique that was discovered by scientists in California was put on hold until the ethical issues related to the use of the method can be considered by both scientific community and general public.
